A polished professional website for an international conductor, showcasing biography, repertoire and upcoming projects
The Brief
Kevin Field is a conductor with an international career spanning prestigious orchestras and opera companies across Europe, Asia and beyond. He’s directed ensembles including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Malaysian Philharmonic and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic — a career that speaks for itself, but only if the right people can find and understand it.
The brief was to create a website that did justice to the breadth and quality of Kevin’s career: a polished, professional platform that could serve as a digital calling card for promoters, orchestras and booking agents, while also engaging a wider audience interested in his work. The site needed to feel sophisticated and authoritative without being inaccessible to those who weren’t already familiar with his name.
The Challenge
A classical conductor’s career generates a lot of material — biographical information, repertoire lists, project descriptions, recordings, concert footage, press coverage. The challenge was to present all of that in a way that felt cohesive and engaging rather than overwhelming, giving different types of visitors a clear path through the information that was most relevant to them.
The site also had to remain relevant over time. Kevin has ongoing and upcoming projects — new premieres, international collaborations, opera commissions — and the structure needed to support easy updates so the site could reflect the current state of his career rather than feeling like a static archive.
The Approach
I structured the site around the four areas that matter most to different visitor types: biography for those getting to know Kevin’s career, projects for promoters interested in upcoming or recent work, repertoire for orchestras evaluating suitability for specific programmes, and galleries for the more general audience who want a sense of Kevin in performance.
The design aesthetic was deliberately sophisticated — clean typography, considered spacing, quality imagery — to reflect the world Kevin operates in. Classical music audiences and industry professionals have high aesthetic standards, and the site needed to signal from the first moment that this is an artist who operates at the top of his field.
The Solution
I created a sophisticated WordPress website with dedicated sections for biography, projects, repertoire and galleries. The biography page covers Kevin’s career highlights with the prestigious ensembles he’s directed. The projects section is structured to highlight both upcoming and recent work, including new commissions and major opera productions — giving visiting promoters and programmers an immediate sense of where Kevin is now in his career.
Each project entry explains the context — what the work is, who else is involved, and why it matters — so that the projects page functions not just as a listings page but as a genuine insight into the kind of work Kevin gravitates towards and the collaborators he works with. The result is a site that works as both a portfolio and a professional statement.
Key features delivered
- Structured sections for biography, projects, repertoire and gallery to serve different visitor types
- Biography page covering major career highlights and prestigious ensemble credits
- Project listings with context and collaborator information — not just titles and dates
- Repertoire section allowing programmers to quickly assess suitability for specific works
- Sophisticated design aesthetic appropriate to the classical music world
- Updateable structure so the site remains current as Kevin’s projects and calendar evolve
The Outcome
Kevin Field now has a website that properly reflects the scale and quality of his career — a professional platform that can be shared with promoters, agents and orchestras with confidence that it will make the right impression. What was previously a difficult-to-navigate collection of career information is now a well-structured, elegant site that tells Kevin’s story clearly and compellingly.
For a conductor whose career depends on building relationships with the right people in the right institutions, a website that communicates authority, artistry and current relevance is a meaningful professional asset — one that can open doors that a standard bio page simply wouldn’t.
