The Brief

Jane Pearson is a complementary therapist based in Newcastle upon Tyne, offering treatments rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine — reflexology, Tui Na medical massage, acupuncture and cosmetic acupuncture. Her practice is built on a holistic philosophy: the belief that true health means balance across mind, body and spirit, and that the body has a natural capacity to heal when properly supported.

Jane wanted a website that reflected her approach — calm, thoughtful, grounded in genuine expertise — and that helped visitors understand the therapies she offered well enough to feel confident booking a treatment. Many of her prospective clients had never tried acupuncture or reflexology before; the site needed to educate as well as reassure, and do both without feeling intimidating.

The Challenge

Complementary therapy is a sector where scepticism is common. Visitors may arrive genuinely curious but unsure whether treatments like acupuncture or Tui Na massage are right for them, or even what they involve. The website needed to do real educational work — explaining each therapy clearly, covering what to expect and communicating the genuine health benefits — without feeling like it was trying to hard-sell something unfamiliar.

The tone was also critical. Jane’s practice is personal and relationship-driven — clients come back because they trust her, not because of a brand or a price point. The site needed to convey that quality of care and that personal approach, which is harder to achieve with web copy than it might sound. Too formal and it felt clinical; too casual and it undermined the credibility of Jane’s training and expertise.

The Approach

I grounded the site in Jane’s own philosophy rather than in generic complementary therapy marketing language. The welcome section opens with her aim — to promote health and restore balance, drawing on the wisdom of Taoist philosophy — which immediately signals that this is a practitioner with genuine depth of knowledge and a coherent philosophical approach, not just a collection of treatments on a menu.

Soft, considered imagery and a calm visual design were chosen to create an atmosphere that visitors could sense before they read a word. The site needed to feel like an extension of the therapy space itself — relaxing, trustworthy, unhurried.

The Solution

I developed a serene WordPress website with considered visual design and concise, carefully written copy. Each therapy is given its own section: Traditional Chinese reflexology (balancing mind, body and spirit through foot pressure), Tui Na medical massage (stimulating key acupressure points to promote healing), Traditional Chinese acupuncture (restoring health through the body’s natural energy pathways) and Cosmetic acupuncture (improving skin elasticity and tone naturally).

Client testimonials are woven into the site, with genuine reviews praising Jane’s knowledge, care and the tangible improvements clients have experienced. These serve a dual purpose — providing the social proof that sceptical visitors need, while also illustrating the kind of results that are possible when a client commits to the treatment. A clear booking process makes it easy for ready visitors to take the next step without unnecessary friction.

Key features delivered

  • Calm, considered visual design that creates the right atmosphere before a visitor reads a word
  • Individual sections for each therapy: reflexology, Tui Na massage, acupuncture and cosmetic acupuncture
  • Philosophy-led welcome section grounding the practice in Taoist principles and holistic health values
  • Client testimonials providing genuine social proof for prospective first-time clients
  • Educational copy explaining each therapy clearly without being overly clinical or intimidating
  • Clear booking pathway making it simple for visitors to take the next step

The Outcome

Jane Pearson Therapies now has a digital presence that reflects the quality, care and philosophy of the practice itself. Visitors who arrive curious but undecided find a site that takes their questions seriously, explains the treatments honestly and makes the transition from interest to booking feel natural and easy.

For a sole practitioner building a client base on personal recommendations and reputation, having a website that works as hard as Jane does is genuinely impactful. It gives prospective clients who arrive without a personal recommendation the same sense of trust that a word-of-mouth referral would — and that converts browsers into bookings.
